Starfield: Powers And How To Obtain Them

Starfield Powers And How To Obtain Them

SPOILER ALERT!!. This is a bit of A spoiler if you have not progressed this far into the game.

During your exploration and following the main story, you will start acquiring some amazing and deadly powers to aid you.

Thus far there are more than 20 powers that you can obtain throughout playing the main Campaign and there seem to be a few that you can obtain whilst exploring random planets that house a temple.

To start getting these powers you need to progress the main story all the way to the quest “Into The Unknown”. You will continue looking for more artifacts to add them to your collection. This quest ends by sending you to Procyon III.

Powers are obtained from temples, such as the one you are about to discover by visiting Procyon III.  In a lot of cases, you can see large structures from your ship.

Temples in Starfield.

If that’s not the case for you, you can equip your scanner and take a look around. When your scanner is facing said temple it will have weird distortion effects which means x marked the spot. That’s where you want to go.

Upon arrival, commence your search for an entrance. You’ll discover it nestled between two towering walls, forming a narrow passage you can enter.

Once inside you will need to activate a portal. That’s how you obtain these powers. To do this you will have to float around collecting all the light fragments, Once you obtain enough you will hear a sound, informing you that you can move on to the next part.

Float arounf to collect light fragments.

When you activate the portal, it will teleport you outside and display a powers menu. Powers introduce a new mana bar positioned below your HP bar. When you use powers, they consume your mana, but fortunately, this resource regenerates gradually over time.

Be aware that once you’ve been teleported outside, filled with enthusiasm about your new abilities, you are not alone.

Teleport portal

A new foe is eagerly waiting for you, Starborn enemies. They are usually around level 30 and they can remain perfectly cloaked so keep a keen eye out for screen tearing to determine their position.

Once you have your sights set on them you will need to quickly take them down. So go all out guns blazing. At this stage, once they are dead their bodies vanish. It’s unclear whether it’s intended or a bug, so looting them isn’t possible at the moment.

Defeating each Starborn yields Quantum Essence, a resource you can monitor on the powers screen. This resource is employed to enhance the recharge rate of your power meter, enabling you to use your newfound abilities more frequently.

That said, you must locate temples to acquire new powers.

There are a few ways to go about this:

At times when entering a new system you will be notified that there is a temple located on one of the planets.

You can initiate a conversation with Vladimir Sall aboard The Eye, and he may randomly possess knowledge about a temple’s location, which will then be added to your Quest log.

Then the all-time unreliable method of Randomly stumbling across one as you’re exploring.

As far as powers are concerned this is what we’ve discovered.

Powers

You can skip the main quest and just talk to Vladimir, or skip that too and just go out looking for temples.

Coming across a power you already have upgraded it to a version II. Thus making it more effective.

Some things to note:

At the moment, it remains uncertain whether temples are randomized for individual players. Regarding upgraded powers, it’s also unclear whether replaying the main mission will grant access to them. I, personally, didn’t opt for that path.

That concludes the details on powers, their functionality, and how to locate them. Any additional information discovered will be added to this list.
