All The News Announced At The CD Projekt Red Investor Call

All-The-News-Announced-At-The-CD-Projekt-Red-Investor-Call-3

During CD Projekt Red’s most recent investor call, some significant game-related news was revealed

The studio revealed a lineup of games large enough to keep fans entertained for at least a decade at its most recent investor call on Tuesday.

Several Witcher games, a brand-new IP, and high-profile studio moves, among other things, were announced.

Most notably we got some big news on The Witcher franchise which we have laid out below:

The Witcher:

The Witcher 4 Trilogy (Project Polaris):

Geralt from The Witcher franchise

The studio broke the news that The Witcher 4 dubbed “Project Polaris” will be the first installment in a trilogy and we now have confirmation that Polaris will be the beginning “of a new Witcher Trilogy”.

This fourth installment in the franchise was teased earlier this year with a new Witcher medallion thought to represent a lynx. The game is said to be in pre-production, but it was said that all three games are “aimed to be delivered within a six-year period following the Polaris release.”

There is no set date for The Witcher 4’s release date yet but we should see the next game come out three years after that etc.

According to the announcement the game will be developed by an external studio headed by developers who previously worked on The Witcher games.

Do not expect the game anytime soon though as pre-production on Polaris has only just begun so this project is still at least three years out. All three games are planned to be full AAA RPGs according to Adam Kicinski, joint CEO of CDPR.

The Witcher: Sirius:

Siri from The Witcher franchise

Project Sirius is a project being developed by The Molasses Flood and supported by CDPR. For both current and potential Witcher fans, it will deliver an “unforgettable story” with “an innovative take on The Witcher universe.”

The game is still in pre-production which naturally means it is still quite a way away. Its been confirmed though that it will offer multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience which barring Gwent is new for the franchise.

The Witcher: Canis Majoris:

The Witcher Canis Majoris

This game will be a “story-driven, single-player open-world RPG set within The Witcher universe.” Other than this we only know one detail, like Sirius its being developed by an external studio and not by CDPR. A team of former Witcher developers is presently working on Canis Majoris, which is Latin for “Greater Dog.”

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen:

The game is due to launch on Xbox Series x and PS5 by the end of this year. CDPR dropped the news that the game is “still planned” for this year although a date has not been set for the Next-Gen ports.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty:

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom LIberty

You might already be aware of the large Cyberpunk 2077 expansion coming called “Phantom Liberty”. We don’t know much new about the expansion from the investor call but we do know that it is now in the final stages of production.

All CDPR will divulge about the project is that it has a loose release date of 2023.

Cyberpunk 2077 Orion:

Cyberpunk Orion

Cyberpunk 2077 “project Orion” will be a fully-fledged sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. CDPR says it will “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe.” CDPR hasn’t quite commented on the status of this sequel but it is most probably still in Pre-Production. It is reported that about half of the CDPR team is working on Project Orion. CDPR has previously acknowledged that Orion “will require a lot of work, dedication, and further growth of the team.” They are also planning to open a North American-based studio for CDPR so they currently have their hands full.

Project Hadar:

Project Hadar

The last piece of game news from the call was Project Hadar which will be a third IP different from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher. The game is still in the “conceptual phase” and still only has a “small strike team” working on the title. Project Hadar will be the first original IP  from the studio since late last year but that is currently all they are saying about this new project.

In other CDPR news, CD Projekt Co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski will be leaving his previous role and carrying on as chairman of the supervisory board by the end of this year.

Iwinski announced the news on Twitter stating:

“In my new non-executive role I will remain active and engaged dedicating my focus on supporting the entire management board.”

He also stated:

“I will also remain connected to the core of what makes us special, which is making the best storytelling games in the world and doing right by gamers.”

The major CDPR news ends here, but stay tuned for further information about the company, The Witcher, and the Cyberpunk franchises.
