Another Delay For New World

MAIN-1

With another delay for the release of New World, this will be the fourth delay that Amazon Games has given us.

At this specific point, we can now expect the MMORPG adventure title to come out on the 28th of September 2021. With the previously set release dates being May 2020, August 2020, and then jumping to sometime in Spring of 2021, most recently set at the 31st of August, 2021, you can understand the disappointment and minor frustrations of the eagerly awaiting fans.

Amazon said today that, based on comments gathered during the recent closed beta test, it has decided to delay the launch until the end of September in order to tighten things up.

The New World Team Tweeted: “We want New World’s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’re going to take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game.

New World’s new global launch date is September 28, 2021. This was not an easy decision to make. We know this isn’t the first time we’ve changed our launch date in pursuit of quality, and that it can be disappointing to wait a bit longer. But we want to be sure we deliver you the highest quality game at launch. Thank you for your support and feedback.”

About New World

Another Delay For New World

So for any of you who aren’t familiar with this upcoming open-world MMORPG, New World is set on the isle of Aeternum. This mystical island is swimming in magick and it is up to you to discover the mysteries and truth of this land.

As for your character, there are no races to choose from but three factions. Marauders, Syndicate and Covenant. Within these factions, you can then form “companies”.

You can go in solo or co-op and although this is a game that can be thoroughly enjoyed as a single-player, PvP is majorly encouraged as one of the focus points. There will be more rewards and availability for quests with PvP while also including PvE, as one of the developers’ other goals is to have both PvP and PvE work in harmony to complement one another for a more inclusive gameplay.

Of course, as with any game of the likes, New World requires you to gather resources and materials for crafting armour, weapons, and other tools and goodies. With that being said, this can either be for your gain, to share with other players, or to sell to other players and there will also be player-run markets.

The combat availability is also quite vast, with the options of close combat, ranged or supernatural powers:

  • Real-time combat throughout the world
  • Group expeditions
  • Group outpost rush
  • Group invasions
  • Group war

So far New World will only be available for PC and there have been no further hints towards it being made available for consoles any time soon.

Conclusion

Another Delay For New World

The Closed Beta has had many mixed reviews, some being held in high regard and some filled with disappointment.

Sure there were bugs, what game hasn’t had that? This is a big project that Amazon Games and Double Helix took on and they want nothing more than to give their fans a top-tier title. What’s important is that they are listening to the community and doing their best to fix the minor issues.

Frankly, I would much rather have another delay so that they can patch up what needs patching, they might even make a few other tweaks to add to the quality of the game such as more work and detail put into the dungeons (either way, larger tweaks such as this could also be touched on at a later point as an update possibly?) This game has loads of potential for the future.

Unfortunately, with it being pushed back to the end of September, New World is going to encounter some bigger titles’ releases to compete with around the same time, such as Deathloop, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and Battlefield 2042.

Developers are constantly under immense amounts of pressure to release new titles, especially as the gaming industry continues to grow. They also need a bit of patience and understanding from their fan base that you can’t rush to push out game after game and expect perfect high quality content.
