Diablo will introduce its first new class in nearly a decade and it will be dubbed “The Blood Knight”.

The new class “The Blood Knight” will be introduced in Diablo Immortal as confirmed by Blizzard on Thursday during a developer update livestream.

They also released a Cinematic trailer for the new Blood Knight class:

As depicted in the trailer, Blood Knights possess the ability to undergo a dramatic transformation into formidable vampiric creatures, allowing them to vanquish their adversaries.

This transformative skill is sustained by defeating enemies, and it bestows players with additional abilities. When not in their transformed state, Blood Knights adeptly wield halberds while harnessing the power of blood and shadow magic.

Diablo Immortal will introduce the Blood Knight as the seventh playable class, joining Barbarians, Crusaders, Demon Hunters, Monks, Necromancers, and Wizards. Diablo series hasn’t introduced a new class since Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls introduced the Crusader.

Despite being released recently, Diablo Immortal has not become a popular choice among Diablo players and dedicated gamers overall. Criticisms have arisen, specifically targeting the game’s frustrating and exploitative loot boxes and microtransactions.

Nevertheless, the action RPG still manages to attract a significant player base, with millions of users logging in daily to enjoy the unexpectedly enjoyable gameplay experience.

The Blood Knight class

According to Diablo Immortal developers, the Blood Knight is a melee hybrid class specializing in close combat with polearms. While the Blood Knight may initially seem slow, the developers have stated that the class has the ability to transform into a formidable monster called an Abomination.

In this form, the Blood Knight can unleash devastating hand-to-hand attacks upon hordes of enemies.

They said on their official site:

“This vanquisher of vampires feeds on enemies’ life, entraps them in deadly shadows summoned with cursed strength, and relies on their trusty polearm to maintain distance from danger. And if all else fails, they may just succumb to the unholy abomination within themselves that’s vying for control of their humanity.”

In Diablo Immortal, a class-change feature allows players to convert their current character into a different class while retaining their levels and statistics. Typically, there is a considerable cooldown period for class changes.

However, upon the release of the Blood Knight class, players will have the freedom to switch to and from this new class without restrictions, enabling them to explore its gameplay mechanics more conveniently.

Blizzard has announced that starting on July 13, Diablo Immortal players will have three options to experience the new class. Option 1 allows players to create a fresh character and choose the “Blood Knight” class. Option 2 enables players to utilize Diablo Immortal’s class change feature to switch their existing character to the new class.

Lastly, players will have the opportunity to try out the new class through a time-limited event called the Crimson Plane. During this event, all players can assume the role of a Blood Knight and have the chance to earn exclusive Blood Knight cosmetics and various items by successfully completing the event.

The developers did not provide information regarding the potential inclusion of the Blood Knight in Diablo 4. However, Blizzard might utilize Diablo Immortal as a platform to assess the level of interest and reception for this new class.
