Assassin’s Creed Infinity Confirmed

Assassins-Creed-Infinity-Confirmed

Assassin’s Creed fans will be excited to know that the next installment has been confirmed.

Ubisoft has confirmed the new Assassin’s Creed game will be Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

In the update Ubisoft stated: “We wanted to share some key updates on the talented and creative minds that will now be working in a collaborative, cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec that will guide, grow, evolve, and define the overall future of Assassin’s Creed that includes an important upcoming, early-in-development project codenamed Assassin’s Creed Infinity.”

The latest installment will feature live online play, similar to Fortnite, Apex Legends, and other popular games, and will take players on a journey through various historical events throughout history.

The update mostly spoke about the collaboration between the two Ubisoft studios that would be working together on the project stating:

“Joint production efforts on Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be headed up by Ubisoft Montreal’s Julien Laferrière who has been named senior producer, overseeing production at both studios. Laferrière brings along extensive experience with the franchise, having worked on Assassin’s Creed since 2007 before most recently becoming producer on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”

There will reportedly be many “persistent” updates with “Infinity” improving the game as time goes on. According to Bloomberg, Ubisoft intends to “meet the expectations of fans who have been requesting a more cohesive approach” to the series.

The statement also said: “Rather than continuing to pass the baton from game to game, we profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft. Most importantly, Assassin’s Creed has always been developed by multicultural teams with various backgrounds and perspectives that have influenced the depiction of its characters, locations, and cultures. While we know there’s always room for improvement, we believe this new structure allows us to ensure that diversity and representation within our teams continue to grow and match that of our players.”

Assassin's Creed Infinity Confirmed

Via a tweet Jason Schreier of Ubisoft said:

After a few of the “senior” members of Ubisoft were accused of harassment and abuse last year and some of them are now reportedly still in leadership positions but Ubisoft did issue a statement stating: “Employees who have been under investigation would not remain at Ubisoft if results of investigations warranted termination.”

Ubisoft hasn’t really given much more to go on regarding details of the upcoming installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise as it has just now been announced and confirmed but sources have indicated they are aiming for a 2024 release or later.

No one has announced which platforms the game will be available on but based on the timetable, it is realistic to assume the game to be released on Xbox One, Xbox One S, PS5, and PC. Also, because the game will be released in a few years, it is realistic to assume enhancements such as 4K and 60FPS (perhaps even 120FPS), given that the Series X and S will have been on the market for four to five years at that point.

We realize this isn’t much to go on right now but as the news comes in, we will be keeping you up to date with all the latest juicy tidbits on this exciting new installment of what is already an extremely popular franchise so stay tuned.
