The ASUR ROG Ally is the new Windows-Based handheld gaming device coming out soon. Here is what we know…
Everyone knows about the Steamdeck which launched in 2022, but it seems there is a new handheld in town. ASUS is launching its new handheld dubbed the ASUS ROG Ally on the 11th of May.
The project was announced on the first of April sparking rumours that it was an April Fools Joke. Turns out the truth is a cool little handheld from tech giant ASUS.
The actual price hasn’t been officially announced as yet but we do know a lot of good info about this exciting new project.
ASUS has disclosed that they will keep the price below $1000 which is good news for fans of ASUS products.
In addition to its 7-inch screen, the new handheld will have a 120Hz screen that supports resolutions up to 18.
The fan is also quieter than the Steam Deck, running 17 decibels lower than its competitor. Additionally, the ROG Ally is expected to have a high-powered AMD Ryzen Z1 processor.
Besides that, it will have an upgradable M.2 SSD port and a microSD card reader for expansion. Asus’ ROG XG external GPU device can also be docked and linked up with it, which increases its gaming power, but also makes the device non-portable.
Moreover, it will run Windows 11 instead of Steam OS, making it much easier to install non-Steam games than the Steam Deck.
The official Specifications are as follows:
- 7″ 1080p 120Hz 7ms touch display with FreeSync
- Weight: 608g
- AMD Ryzen Z1 Series CPU
- RDNA 3 Graphics
- 512GB PCI Express 4.0 SSD
- 16GB RAM
- MicroSD slot for storage expansion
- Wi-Fi 6E
- Windows 11 operating system
- Haptic feedback
- Fingerprint sensor for unlocking
Although the price of the ASUS ROG Ally has not been confirmed, it is said that some features were left out in order to keep the price low. Additionally, the handheld PC will come in two versions. There will be one with 512GB of storage and one with 1TB of storage.
If all the information received is true, then this will be a powerful little handheld to rival the Steamdeck. We will be keeping a close eye on the situation as it unfolds.
