Battlefield-2042-Delayed-By-A-Month

It’s starting to become a trend for developers to delay upcoming games due to needing “more time to work on the game”.

The announcement comes from Electronic Arts only a month before Battlefield 2042 was set to be released on the 22nd of October.

The reason for the delay is said to be “unforeseen obstacles” brought on by the Covid-19 epidemic. Investors were reassured by EA’s assurance that the impact of the delay on its results would be minimal.

Battlefield 2042 has now been delayed to the 19th of November. The studio general manager from DICE, Oskar Gabrielson has said in his statement:

“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. “Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”

Battlefield 2042 Delayed By A Month

Battlefield 2042 will be the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series and a direct successor to Battlefield V from 2018. The game will be entirely multiplayer and will not include a singleplayer campaign. The game will take place in the near future, and will feature futuristic weapons and gadgets like deployable turrets and drones, as well as vehicles that players can commandeer.

The official Steamstore overview states” Battlefield™ 2042 is a first-person shooter that marks the return to the iconic all-out warfare of the franchise. Adapt and overcome in a near-future world transformed by disorder. Squad up and bring a cutting-edge arsenal into dynamically-changing battlegrounds supporting 128 players, unprecedented scale, and epic destruction.

In addition, the game features a new “Plus” system that allows players to personalize their weapons on the spot.

EA also stated that an update on the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta will be announced later this month.

The delay, while disappointing to fans eagerly anticipating the new installment’s debut, is only a month away, which is way better than many games that have been delayed for a year or more.
