Patch 5 from Larian Studios is massive, both in terms of install size and content
The next major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 has just arrived on PC and PS5, and Larian Studios recommends that some players do something unusual before installing it: uninstall the game.
The reason for this is that, while the patch is only 30 GB in size, it will require another 130 GB of available disk space to unpack and install. Players can reclaim the 100+ GB that the base game already takes up on their SSD by uninstalling the game, and then download the latest version the next time the game is installed.
This is less of an issue for those with fast internet connections, as reinstalling should only take an hour at most. But, for better or worse, because a fast connection isn’t something you can just roll for, we should feel sorry for the people who will have to wait days for Baldur’s Gate 3 to reinstall. That $79.99 deluxe physical edition of the game with a “fuck-ton of discs” can’t come soon enough, can it?
Fortunately, it appears that all of your efforts will be rewarded, as patch 5 appears to be stacked. The full list of release notes can, and should, be found on the game’s Steam page.
