Call Of Duty New Seasons Postponed Out Of Respect For Protests

Most of us are aware of the Protest action that is ongoing in the U.S. at the moment following the police brutality against George Floyd on the 25th of May who then eventually succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The numerous protests have been taking place in Minneapolis and across the entire U.S., some have been peaceful and some have turned into riots but all in solidarity for the brutal attack by a police officer against George Floyd.

It seems Activision has stood up and decided to act in Solidarity to this cause, as they have delayed the rollout of Call Of Duty content for Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Call Of Duty: Mobile.

In a statement on Twitter, Activision was quoted as saying “While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates. “They also mentioned that “Right now, it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard”.

Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was supposed to launch on the 3rd of June, while Call of Duty: Mobile’s seventh season was originally planned to release sometime this week. New seasons in both these games would have introduced free content drops, including new multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons for both game’s online multiplayer modes.

They are not the only ones who have acted in Solidarity though as many other companies gaming and otherwise have also acted.

Among these companies is Sony which has announced it will delay a planned Playstation 5 event that was scheduled for Thursday the 4th of June, until further notice. They have shared a similar sentiment to Activision saying in a statement “we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.”

Electronic Arts were also one of the companies standing in solidarity for this noble cause having delayed its Madden NFL 21 announcement among others that were to be released in the near future.

We feel that this move shows real heart as it is up to everyone to stand up for what is right and if that means some of our games are a little delayed then so be it.
