It seems CD Projekt Red is planning to dive into full production of the new Witcher game as soon as Cyberpunk 2077 has been released.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on September 17 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Rumors are that this new Witcher game will be fully optimized for PS5 and Xbox series X as well.
CD Projekt Group President Adam Kiciński said in a recent press event in Poland. “We have already been working on another single player game, we have created a relatively clear concept that is waiting for further development”.
Don’t hold your breath just yet for the new Witcher game though, as their next project is set to be the Cyberpunk multiplayer.
Kicinski hasn’t given any clues on what to expect from the new Witcher game as of yet but it probably won’t star Geralt of Rivia as his story was concluded in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It could be a prequel or even have a new protagonist at the helm.
As Kicinski emphasizes, the new game will not be called “The Witcher 4″ and will be handled by the smallest team of the Polish company.
The company does seem to be eager to capitalize the huge success that is the Witcher franchise so we are definitely expecting big things from the Witcher in all its forms.
CPR has also just signed a new agreement with the original creator of the Witcher series Andrzej Sapkowski so this all co-incides with the continuation of this successful franchise.
