After yet another release date change Dead Island 2 will be released a week earlier than expected.
There have been many release date changes for Dead Island 2, culminating in a week-early release by the developer.
The game is being developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver. Dead Island 2 is set to for release for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game is now set for release on the 21st of April which is a whole week earlier than scheduled.
The news was announced with a Tweet stating:
April 2023 will mark the official release date because the game’s gold status makes it unlikely that it will be put on hold much longer. It makes sense that since the game was first revealed at E3 in 2014, fans will be anticipating its real release.
Dead Island 2 has been on a heck of a journey since it was first announced. It has been in development for just about a decade. There have been studio changes, long periods of radio silence, and multiple delays.
As a result of the sequel’s “golden status,” it is now approved for release through major online marketplaces like Microsoft and Sony.
The developers made a statement saying:
“Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios are in equal measures absolutely thrilled and totally relieved to confirm today that the long-anticipated zombie slaying saga Dead Island 2 has GONE GOLD. As a celebration, the two companies have also decided to shorten the wait for fans and release the game in all its versions one week earlier than they were expecting.”
In Dead Island 2, Los Angeles and San Francisco are open-world cities. Its combat mechanics are different from its predecessors. There are also several features from Dead Island 2’s predecessors, such as rage and crafting.
This is great news for fans of the original and those awaiting the sequel with bated breath. With Gold status, the game is ready for release, unlike so many “half-finished” games in the past.
You can bet we will be keeping our ears to the ground for any new developments in this story so stay tuned.
