Diablo 4 Is Official: All The Latest News And Insight

Everything you need to know about this long-anticipated game.

Diablo 4 is now more than just rumor and innuendo, it has been officially confirmed by Blizzard.

Its predecessor Diablo 3 was released 8 years ago so it’s about time we see this new title surface.

Diablo 4 was confirmed at Blizzcon and we now know that this new game will be an isometric action role-playing game (RPG).

In this new installment we will see the return of Mephisto’s daughter Lilith.

What’s more, there will be an open-world map with five main regions. There will be a non-linear campaign and separate day/night cycles, which no doubt will add to the enjoyment factor.

You will be able to choose one of five classes (of which only three have been made public) which you will be able to personalize to your own taste.

This new chapter will be like the others in that you will still smash and loot your way through each region, gathering as much as you can carry.

Apparently, Diablo 4 will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms simultaneously and they plan to release it on PS5 and Xbox series X at the same time.

The release date has not yet been confirmed and Blizzard suggests that unfortunately the game won’t be released anytime soon. As they have mentioned releasing it on Xbox series X and PS5 it suggests that the date will correlate with the life-span of these next-gen consoles, and shows that they aren’t anticipating a date anywhere in the near future.

The cinematic trailer evokes fear and intrigue, with monsters, gore, summoning evil, and most importantly blood. “Blood is key”. I found myself personally watching till the end of this masterfully made trailer.

The team is still very busy creating what will undoubtedly be a masterpiece. They are hard at work balancing the story campaign and the side quests to make for a more immersive experience. The player will now have the flexibility to juggle side quests whilst playing the main storyline.

The game will include camps which are important locations that are overrun with enemies, once these are cleared, they become friendly outposts with NPC’S and waypoints.

The game’s director Luis Barriga mentioned that the multiplayer aspect of Diablo 4 was the most challenging part to modify and stating that their

“goal has always been to incorporate elements from shared world games without the game ever feeling like it’s veering into massive multiplayer territory.”

On the game’s official site they describe the gameplay as:

“Endless demons to slaughter. Deep customization through talents, skill points, runes, and legendary loot. Randomized dungeons contained in a dynamic open-world. Survive and conquer darkness-or succumb to the shadows.”

The development team has made an entire area of the game called The Dry Steppes fully playable, with campaign, open-world elements, itemization, a PvP subzone, dungeons, and a cinematic for an on-team two-day play testing session. This is just a test area per-say and has given us insight into the gameplay.

The team is moving away from conversation panes towards a mix of tool-generated and choreographed camera angles that should improve the simple and complex NPC interactions tremendously. The game will also make use of cut-scenes to bring that cinematic feel to some of the game’s more important narrative moments, and also a more seamless transition back to the player-controlled gameplay.

The team is also trying to ensure that including open-world elements won’t make the game feel too much like an MMO. As Barriga Stated,

“the game stops feeling like Diablo and the world feels less dangerous when you see other players too often or in too high numbers.”

Players will never be forced to join a party so those of you who prefer to go it solo can still do so.

According to Barriga, the game will be “very fun to play” and with all this new information in our arsenal we can “hurry up and wait” as they say. Diablo 4 will undoubtedly be an absolutely breath-taking game to play and we are excited at the prospect.
