Diablo Immortal Has Already Earned Over $24 million

Diablo-Immortal-Has-Already-Earned-Over-24-Million

Diablo Immortal wasn’t very well received but despite this, the game has been downloaded more than 8 million times.

Diablo Immortal was released on the 2nd of this month and has already had a mixed reception from fans.

For those who are unaware, Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play MMO RPG set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III. Fans were excited about the game but were disappointed by the extremely high volume of in-game transactions and a few other gameplay issues such as loot boxes not being able to be released in Belgium and the Netherland.

Data sourced from Appmagic has now surfaced that despite these major issues in the game it hasn’t prevented the game from “raking it in”.

The game has reportedly made $24.3 million in the first two weeks of its release and has been downloaded more than 8 million times and that doesn’t even count the PC version which is still in its Beta Phase.

This is quite surprising after the backlash from players complaining that the game is “built around the dopamine that comes from whacking demon piñatas for loot, meticulously designed to give you a jolt of satisfaction every 30 seconds—and then, when that’s not enough anymore, it charges you for it. For Diablo Immortal and games like it, the fun parts of games are money extraction devices.”

The full game Diablo IV is set to be released next year and many are concerned they will face the same monetization issues even though Blizzard has promised that the monetization won’t work the same as in Diablo Immortal. (read our full article on this issue here.).
