EA Removing Battlefield Bad Company Games And 1943 From Online Stores

Electronic Arts and DICE are “sunsetting” a handful of games.

The developers have announced that they are taking the servers of these games offline and will remove them for digital storefronts.

The games being axed are Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

The 28th of April will be the last day you will be able to purchase these games.

DICE said Bad Company and Bad Company 2 will remain playable on a single-player basis. They will shut down the online services for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s Battlefield 1943 after the 8th of December. making the game no longer playable.

The oldest game shutting down is Battlefield: Bad Company. They released the game in June 2008.

Battlefield: 1943:

In 2009, Battlefield 1943, a multiplayer game available only digitally, was released. The game is set in World War 2’s Pacific Theater, and players can choose between playing as a US Marine or an Imperial Japanese Navy member.

Up to 24 players can compete on three maps, with the fourth map unlocked after 43 million kills have been achieved. Both PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms were supported by the game.

Battlefield: Bad Company:

In 2008, the video game Battlefield: Bad Company became available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The game’s main character is Private Preston Marlowe. He leads his team in an effort to seize gold from mercenaries. Amidst the ongoing conflict between the United States and Russia.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2:

The release of Bad Company 2, the sequel of Bad Company supported various platforms. These included PC, PS3, Xbox 360, iOS, and Kindle Fire.

The game’s storyline features the return of Preston Marlowe and his team, who are now part of the Special Activities Division. Their objective is to establish contact with Agent James “Aguie” Wyatt. Which leads them on an expedition to Bolivia during the second Russo-American War.

The announcement also referenced Mirror’s Edge. EA has since retracted this, stating it has no plans to delist the game.

So if you are a fan of these games, it would be prudent to buy and play them before the end of their lives on the 8th of December.
