The Borderlands Movie has found its Villain.

The upcoming Borderlands movie is shaping up to be something amazing with a star-studded cast and developing plotline that promises to blow us away.

Among the characters already cast are Tiny Tina, Roland, Lilith, Dr. Tannis, Claptrap, and Krieg. The movie was lacking a villain though up until now that is.

Director Eli Roth has cast Edgar Ramirez as “Atlas”. If you are a fan of Borderlands you will know Atlas as a massive interplanetary megacorporation involved in the development and manufacture of everything from spaceships and stardrives to small arms.

It seems they have decided to put a face to the Atlas name by using Edgar Ramirez and this is what Eli Roth had to say about the casting choice:

“What an incredible honor to have an actor of Edgar’s caliber, talent, and charisma playing opposite Cate Blanchett and this remarkable cast. Atlas has to be a truly magnetic personality, someone with charisma and charm but that air of menace underneath it all. I’ve been a fan of Edgar’s since his early performances and he continues to amaze me with each dramatic turn. We want to create something wild, fun, and very different from anything they’ve seen from Edgar before. I am so, so excited to work with him.”

What we know of the plot so far is that Lilith (Cate Blanchett) is an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past that reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find Atlas’ (Edgar Ramirez) daughter.

Lilith teams up with Roland (Kevin Hart), Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Dr.Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Claptrap (Jack Black). Together they battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power.

Edgar Ramirez has been really busy lately with a couple of projects including Resistance, The Last Days of American crime, Yes Day, Jungle Cruise, and The 355.

Ramirez hails from Venezuela and his first successful acting position was in the soap opera Cosita Rica which aired from September 2003 to August 2004. From there he has appeared in such hits as The Bourne Ultimatum, Carlos The Jackal, and Wrath of the Titans.

With such an extensive resume’ there is no doubt Ramirez will bring something amazing to the table.
