Elden Ring’s Future Beyond Shadow Of The Erdtree: A Sequel Or More DLC?

FromSoftware Elevates Level Design In Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC

Hidetaka Miyazaki Hints at Possibilities

While the newly revealed Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has sparked excitement among Elden Ring fans, FromSoftware isn’t ready to close the book on the Elden Ring saga just yet.

The latest Elden Ring DLC trailer showcased the expansive world of Shadow of the Erdtree, hinting at a mini-sequel rather than a traditional DLC. However, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki remains open to the idea of further expansions or even a sequel.

In an interview with IGN, Miyazaki expressed that while there are no immediate plans for a second DLC or sequel, the possibility remains open. Drawing parallels to the conclusion of Dark Souls 3, Miyazaki emphasized that FromSoftware doesn’t want to limit the potential for future expansions or sequels.

Elden Rings "erdTree".

“We don’t want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now,” Miyazaki stated. “We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something in the future.”

Miyazaki’s comments, while not a definitive confirmation, leave room for speculation about the potential for Elden Ring 2 or additional expansions. For now, fans can look forward to the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on June 21, priced at $39.99. Additionally, a premium bundle priced at $49.99 will be available, offering a digital artbook and soundtrack for dedicated players.
