The two stars recently reunited to play a session of Baldur’s Gate 3
The Fantasy genre encompasses a vast array of highly esteemed stories, including iconic works such as The Elder Scrolls, Game of Thrones, and The Witcher. Among these, The Lord of the Rings stands out as a monumental presence, with the Peter Jackson films achieving worldwide acclaim and earning multiple Oscars in the early 2000s. Both the movies and J.R.R. Tolkien’s books continue to serve as significant sources of inspiration for the fantasy genre.
In a delightful reunion, Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Sean Astin (Sam) have come together to experience Baldur’s Gate 3, a standout fantasy game that recently earned the title of Game of the Year at The Game Awards. Following an encounter between Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke and the aforementioned actors, who share a keen interest in the fantasy genre, Vincke extended an invitation for them to explore the game. The trio engaged in co-op gameplay, crafted their own characters, and thoroughly enjoyed immersing themselves in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. Witness their gameplay experience in the video below.
The future trajectory of Baldur’s Gate 3 remains uncertain at present. Despite the game’s significant success, Larian Studios has been focused on bringing it to completion and ensuring a successful release across all platforms. While the much-anticipated Xbox release recently occurred, Larian has yet to disclose any specific plans for the game’s future. Given the substantial investment in time, resources, and effort dedicated to developing Baldur’s Gate 3, one might reasonably expect that Larian will explore the creation of expansion packs or DLC. Additionally, there are currently no intentions for Baldur’s Gate 3 to be included in the Xbox Game Pass, requiring interested players to make a separate purchase.
