The physical copies will be available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch from the 19th of April.
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection for PS4 and Switch has been officially announced by Square Enix after months of anticipation.
Square Enix announced a few months ago that the collection, which features the first six Final Fantasy games, would be ported to PS4 and Switch later this year.
The official release date for the ports has now been revealed as the 19th of April this year.
Players can switch between the original and rearranged soundtracks for the console release and turn off random encounters if they’d like to explore the map.
Players can gain up to four times the amount of experience with adjusted settings by using boost features that speed up the amount of experience gained for faster and easier runs.
You will also be able to use a new pixel-style font with Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. The default font–which was criticized by players for being too ugly–can be switched out for a pixel-based font that’s more in line with the games’ original feel.
All six games can be purchased individually or as a bundle. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster I-IV bundle for Switch is available now for $75, but PS4 editions have not yet been released. These will be available in the future, according to Square Enix.
Square Enix sent out this tweet regarding the bundle:
Final Fantasy 6’s opening credits will be included as a last bonus after being excluded from the remasters.
If any of the enhancements built for the console ports would later be added to the Steam and mobile versions is unknown at the time of writing.
Finally, there will soon be more ways for fans of the Final Fantasy series to play the first six games in the series.

A theme and avatar are included with PS4 edition purchases. Throughout the period of the 20th of April to the 25th of May, you can obtain a theme and an avatar for each game if you buy them separately.
You will receive a theme and avatar for each game in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster I–IV bundle, for a total of six themes and avatars.
