With the original Fortnite map making a comeback, the game has seen a resurgence with a player base of six million coming to the Battle Royale.
Fortnite, the beloved Battle Royale game known for its unique characters, boasts a massive fan base. Just last week, the game achieved a record-breaking milestone, with a staggering six million concurrent players, marking its highest number to date.
This resurgence though was due to the return of the game’s original map dubbed “Fortnite OG” by its developer Epic.
In light of this resurgence, the game developer has been closely monitoring server performance and capacity. They have also cautioned players that they could encounter brief queues when logging in during specific peak periods.
They reiterated this on Twitter/X:
We’re continuing to monitor server health and capacity following the launch of the Fortnite OG season, and players may find they experience a short queue before logging in.

This huge influx of players comes just a month after Epic Games cut 900 employees.
The game’s Chapter 4, Season 5 update was released on the 2nd of November, and it has transported fans back to the island battlefield as it was in 2018, complete with the familiar look and gameplay. Classic weapons and items have made a comeback, including the much-loved shopping cart, and beloved locations like the iconic Tilted Towers, which was destroyed in 2019, are back. Players can once more take cover in Salty Springs or face long-range challenges in Paradise Palms.
One of the players who significantly contributed to Fortnite’s recent surge in popularity over the weekend was “Tyler Ninja Blevins.” He live-streamed the game, playing on the new OG map for over 40 consecutive hours.
Thanks to the contributions of renowned streamers like “Ninja” and the return of the OG map, the potential for Fortnite’s continued surge in popularity is uncertain, and only time will reveal its trajectory.
