Stardock has announced that Galactic Civilizations IV is finally leaving early access and gracing us with its presence on the 26th of this month.

Galactic Civilizations “is a space-based 4X strategy game set in the 24th century starting when humans have discovered faster-than-light travel called Hyperdrive. Humans and aliens compete for domination of our galaxy. The player begins with only their home planet and must research new technologies, explore the known galaxy, colonize new worlds while keeping their people at home happy. At the same time, players engage in trade, diplomacy, intrigue, and war with alien civilizations.”

Stardock CEO Brad Wardell said in a statement:

“Galactic Civilizations 4 is the result of years of thinking about the exciting innovations that have been occurring in strategy game. We want to give players the ultimate turn-based strategy experience, and we’ve accomplished this by adding in tons of new features that add to the depth and scope of the game while incorporating feedback over several alpha and beta testing phases.”

the various civilizations you get to lead.

The new features included in the series are:

  • Leader Characters
  • Star Sectors
  • New Combat system
  • New invasion system
  • True colonies
  • Enhanced multiplayer
  • Story-driven missions
  • Deeper research

Multi-sector maps, with subspace streams connecting sectors, help to expand the scope of Galactic Civilizations IV for those who desire to do things on a larger scale. With the sequel, galactic conquest and exploration will be more seamless.

During their reign, players will be able to set and change policies, as well as issue executive orders. These policies will grant various buffs and assist in shifting the civilization’s priorities in order to improve efficiency, whilst the executive orders will make use of a new resource called Control, which can be used to accomplish other goals.

Stardock said of the new feature:

” With this new feature, players can take on a challenge to earn “prestige points” that will go toward a total necessary for them to win the game. This cuts down on the ‘grind’ of late-game and allows a story to come to a much more interesting conclusion.”
