Here are the announcements made so far for Gamescom, which takes place from the 23rd of August to the 28th of August 

Gamescom 2022 returned this week in Cologne Germany and has already brought with it many exciting tidbits of information.

You can be sure that We will be following the news from the entire event, but in the meantime, here are the gaming announcements from the in-person event’s opening night.

Below are the game announcements from Gamescom 2022 so far:

Everywhere:

Based on the teaser clip, it’s difficult to pinpoint precisely what Everywhere is, although there’s shooting, driving, explosions, space, and presumably, an open universe from developer Build A Rocket Boy. Everywhere is planned for 2023.

The Callisto Protocol:

The Callisto Protocol is set to be released on the 2nd of December and new live gameplay was shown off in a new video that showcased many many mutated tentacles.

Sonic Frontiers:

Sonic Frontiers is set to be released on the 8th of November for Nintendo Switch, PS 4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox series x.

Hogwarts Legacy:

Hogwarts Legacy is a much-anticipated addition to the Harry Potter universe and a new story trailer showcased a Slytherin student and preorder date announcement for the 25th of August. The game is set to be released on the 10th of February 2023.

Dune Awakening:

Dune awakening is Funcom’s new offering in the Dune universe. The game is set to be a survival, open-world MMO.

Gotham Knights:

During Opening Night Live, WB Games Montréal unveiled a fresh trailer for Gotham Knights. The team’s opponents were revealed in the teaser, along with an earlier release date of the 21st of October.

Dead Island 2:

Dead Island 2, a zombie role-playing game, was previously announced in 2014 but was re-announced at Gamescom 2022. Six playable characters with a “pulpy and irreverent tone” are available.

It is anticipated to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X On the 3rd of February  2023.

Genshin Impact:

Hoyoverse revealed the new Genshin Impact update, which featured a gorgeous jungle world.

Honkai: Star Rail:

Honkai: Star Rail is the newest offering from Hoyoverse and as such the developer graced us with a new trailer.

Friends vs Friends:

This card-based shooter was showcased in an exciting and colourful new trailer.

Where Winds meet:

Action video game Where Winds Meet has sword and bow combat and it looks really cool.

Park Beyond:

Build your own futuristic amusement park in Park Beyond coming soon.

Lies of P:

As we have already covered here, Lies of P got a new gameplay Trailer and will also be available on Game Pass from day one.

Goat Simulator 3:

The game was announced earlier this now and has now gotten a gameplay trailer showcasing the chaos.

Phantom Hellcat:

Phantom Hellcat was unveiled by a new studio, Ironbird Creations, from the publisher All in! Games. The protagonist of the 3D hack and slash game is a teenager on the prowl for evil. There is no information on the release date, but Windows PCs and consoles are anticipated.

Return To Monkey Island:

Return to Monkey island was given a release date of the 19th of September as well as a new trailer.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game:

The 1988 film Killer Klowns from Outer Space, which was also converted for the Nintendo in 1989, served as the inspiration for the game.

High on Life:

High On Life, the first-person shooter created by Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland in which the guns (and other weaponry) talk, debuted a new teaser from Justin Roiland’s Squanch Games. The game is coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox series X on the 13th of December.

Moving Out 2:

A sequel to Moving out, Moving Out 2 is set to be released in 2023.

The Lords Of The Fallen:

The Lords Of The Fallen was recently announced by Hexworks and will be a follow-up to the 2014 “Lords Of The Fallen. The game will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X.

Under The Waves:

Under the Waves, developed by Parallel Studios and Quantic Dream, will be released in 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Stranded: Alien Dawn:

The creators of Surviving Mars, Haemimont Games, showcased Stranded: Alien Dawn, a planet survival game that will enter early access on PC in October. According to a news release, players aid a group of colonists in surviving on a “deadly alien world.”

Atlas Fallen:

Focus Entertainment and Deck13 Interactive have announced their new fantasy RPG Atlas Fallen. It’s described as having a “semi-open world full of ancient mysteries and threats,” and it’s coming to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2023. It looks like there will be a lot of sand gliding.

The Outlast Trials:

The Outlast Trials received a fresh makeover on Tuesday from the game’s creator, Red Barrels. The upcoming title in the Outlast series features multiplayer for the first time. A closed beta period is planned for later this year.

Moonbreaker:

The developer that made Subnautica “Unknown Worlds” announced Moonbreaker which they described as “Heartstone meets XCOM, but with miniatures that you can paint.” The game will go into early Access on the 29th of September 2022.

Homeworld 3:

There was new Homeworld 3 footage that mostly featured large fleet space fights. The game is coming in the first half of 2023.

The Expanse: A Telltale series:

Opening Night Live provided actors, writers, and developers with a sneak preview of The Expanse: A Telltale Series. The game is set to be released in the Summer of 2023.

Dorfromantik:

Nintendo Switch will get the adorable and vibrant strategy game Dorfromantik on the 29th of September. 

Scars Above:

The science fiction action game Scars Above is produced by Prime Matter and Mad Head Games.

Some other interesting not-game-related news was announced including Sony getting a new PlayStation 5 controller called the “DualSense Edge “ which will be completely wireless and highly adjustable.

Hideo Kojima also announced a new podcast he will be hosting exclusively on Spotify in September with the first episode being broadcast on the 8th of September. The podcast will be in both English and Japanese with simultaneous interactions.

New Pikachu concept car by Mini

Last but not least A Pokemon-themed concept automobile was developed by Mini, of Mini Cooper fame. The Aceman is what it’s called, and it uses electricity exactly like Pikachu.
