Kazunori Yamauchi says they are looking into a PC port for Gran Turismo but it won’t be easy.

Gran Turismo is an iconic and popular racing game series developed by Polyphony Digital for PlayStation systems.

The series is produced by Kazunori Yamauchi who recently spoke to GTPlanet during the Gran Turismo World Finals.

In the interview, he said he would consider porting the PlayStation-exclusive series to PC. When asked if he could make the jump to PC he replied: “Yes I do think so.”

Yamauchi went on to say:

“Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title. There are not many platforms that could run the game in 4K/60p natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it.”

Sony has already ported some of its biggest franchises to PC, including Santa Monica Studio’s God of War, Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4.

The latest installment in the franchise Gran Turismo 7 received “generally favourable” reviews with Ars Technica stating:

“Polyphony has struck a good balance here. The threshold for achieving a bronze finish in each test is relatively easy to reach, but getting all golds might be a time-consuming and frustrating experience, depending on your skill”.

One of the major draws of the series is the “wild variety” of cars available. The Gran Turismo series itself seems to be obsessed with the very idea of automobile at every point in history which is one of the reasons the game still has many die-hard fans.

In other Gran Turismo news, the game series will be getting a movie which is being made by Neil Blomkamp. The movie will most likely be released sometime in 2023.

Sony announced in 2020 that it would bring more PlayStation exclusives to PC following Horizon Zero Dawn’s release. Which makes this jump to PC a real possibility for Gran Turismo.

To assist it in bringing its games to the PC, PlayStation purchased Nixxes Software. Which is best known for its work on the PC versions of Square Enix franchises such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, and Thief.

All of this points to a real possibility of Gran Turismo coming to PC in the near future, You can be sure we will be keeping an eye on this situation and will let you our loyal readers know as soon as we do.
