Ahead of the new End Of Dragons expansion next year Guild Wars 2 and all its content to date will arrive later this year.
Guild Wars 2 has been around for eight years but NCSoft and ArenaNet have finally decided its time for the MMORPG to be available on Steam.
Set in the fantasy world of Tyria, Guild Wars 2 follows the re-emergence of Destiny’s Edge, a disbanded guild dedicated to fighting the Elder Dragons, a Lovecraftian species that has seized control of Tyria in the time since the original Guild Wars.
Starting from November this year the full Guild Wars 2 package including both the Heart Of Thorns and Path Of Fire expansions will be available on Steam. It will also include the full Living World narrative adventure, which is currently in the midst of The Icebrood Saga.
This news comes to us via a trailer which is vague, to say the least.
Unfortunately, if you are an existing player you will have to stick to the old launcher, as the Steam page mentions that “existing Guild Wars 2 player accounts cannot be accessed via Steam”. Also, you won’t be able to take a Guild Wars 2 account built on Steam and convert it to any non-Steam account.
All we can tell from the trailer is that the dragons have had their day and its time for them to get what’s coming to them in a battle of epic proportions.
There will be numerous events to take part in, as well as many side diversions, including Beetle Racing and the newest addition to the game “Skimmers”.
End of Dragons is set to launch in 2021 and will “take players on a journey to Cantha, the mysterious island nation in the south that has been neither seen nor heard from for over 200 years,” as ArenaNet explains in a press release.
