What We Know About Gylt: The New Survival Horror Game for Kids, coming out Today.

Gylt is garnering acclaim as a survival horror game for kids, drawing inspiration from “Alan Wake” and serving as an educational experience within the genre.

GYLT is an immersive narrative adventure game set in a fictional mining town located in the state of Maine. It combines elements of puzzles, stealth, and action to deliver a captivating gameplay experience.

In the game, players assume the role of Sally, a young girl on a quest to locate her cousin, Emily, who has mysteriously disappeared. Following an incident where she is targeted by school bullies, Sally finds herself transported to a nightmarish realm that mirrors the themes of her torment.

The game features several monster variations, including “invisible cow” creatures, and “terrifying mannequins” resembling the player’s character. These monsters bear similarities to those found in Alan Wake. However, Gylt is considered an Alan Wake experience for kids due to the monsters’ simplistic behavior.

Additionally, the game generously scatters batteries for the torch (which only deplete when used for attacks) and inhalers to restore health throughout the school and surrounding buildings that players can explore.

Optional collectibles, such as text logs, can be discovered, but they are generally located near the main path and are not too difficult to find.

This will unfortunately make the game too easy for seasoned veterans of the genre which is why the game was geared more towards kids.

Starting today, the 6th of July, the game will be released on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5 marking its availability beyond its previous exclusivity on Stadia, which is no longer operational.

The game received average reviews on Metacritic, leaving the decision of whether you enjoyed this children’s survival horror game entirely up to you.
