Their official Twitter account teased some new Halo: Masterchief DLC, which will focus on the flood.
Floodlight, a variation of Halo 3: ODST Firefight that now incorporates the Flood, is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, according to 343 Industries. Firefight now features Elites, as well as the ability for ODSTs to employ Energy Swords and Sentinel Beams, in addition to these infectious new foes.
Halo: Masterchief was launched in 2014 and has since gained in popularity. Since then, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has gotten a number of upgrades via its seasonal system, with each season bringing a number of modest updates and cosmetic unlocks for Halo’s multiplayer modes.

Although 343 Industries’ statement was ambiguous, it’s clear from the screenshot in the tweet that the Flood will be the focus of this new content release.
For those unfamiliar, “The Flood” is a fictitious parasitic alien lifeform that appears in the Halo multimedia series as one of the main adversaries. Flood-infected organisms, also known as Flood, are motivated by a desire to infect any sentient life of appropriate size.
Flood-infected creatures, also known as Flood, can infect other hosts. The parasite is portrayed as such a threat that the Forerunners built artificial ringworld superweapons known as Halos to contain it and, as a last resort, to destroy all sentient life in the galaxy in order to starve the Flood.
In this new update, the Flood can now use vehicles (last seen in Halo 2), and there are three new types of Flood to fight: Infected Civilians, Infected ODSTs, and Infected Elite Majors, who use crimson armor and energy shields.
Because Halo: The Master Chief Collection mostly receives updates in the form of aesthetic unlocks for multiplayer each season, 343 Industries’ decision to provide totally new game mechanics is significant.
The Flood has always been restricted to Halo’s campaign mode or hasn’t even appeared in some of the Halo games. If 343’s teaser is correct, the Flood will be incorporated in Reach and ODST’s “firefight” game mode, which means players will be fighting the Flood in games where they aren’t even present. This could be significant for fans as many have been chomping at the bit to get more chances to fight this alien foe.
Aside from “the flood”-themed improvements, 343 Industries is also introducing Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST co-op cross-play between Xbox consoles and PC. Despite the fact that this functionality has been thoroughly tested, the creator warns that bugs may arise, which should be reported.
Co-op campaign cross-play isn’t supported in Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, or Halo 2 Anniversary, and there’s no word on when or if it will be added to these other titles.
Finally, a slew of new Skulls have been added, with the power to unlock strange new features and AI behavior across Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, however, 343 Industries warns that enabling these could have unforeseen consequences.
