Hyacsho – The Man Behind The Name

Hyachso-The-Man-Behind-The-Name

Hyacsho is the popular content creator we all want to know more about.

Here at MGR Gaming, we aim to showcase the local content creators that are fast gaining popularity and take a deeper look into what makes them tick, Hyacsho is one such creator that had us intrigued with his lively and bubbly personality here is how our interview went down.

As usual, we always ask the content creators we interview for a little bit about their story, etc.

Here is Hyacsho’s Backstory:

“Hyacsho is an eccentric, artistic, workaholic who has a major gaming problem! But seriously, the name: “Hyacsho”, was actually a mixture of a few words, when I decided I wanted to do more gaming reviews and content in South Africa, I wanted to do so under an alias to avoid the attention of the broader gaming journalistic community.

I needed to pick the most generic gamer tag name I could come up with, and thus: Hyperactive Shadow was born.

Quickly realizing  “Hyperactive Shadow” was a bad and long name, I mixed the words into “Hyacsho”, a name that would represent me, and my content; content around my favourite kind of gaming: First Person Shooters.Of course, that’s not how it started.

It started as a blog called Six3two, which focused on consumer technology reviews, and within about a year, I moved countries, and put the little blog to bed; but, Hyacsho would continue on, and embrace the gaming side of the original lifestyle, creating a Twitch account, and eventually, focusing my energy developing a YouTube business, focusing on FPS Gaming, and related content.

Now, Hyacsho, focuses on FPS gaming and Boomer Shooter gaming reviews, commentary and features, and gameplay on those games; answering the question: should I buy this thing?”

What is Hyacsho’s Role in the gaming community?:

“I have weirdly found a spot as the “Doom guy” in the local gaming community, someone to talk to about old school shooter games, or what has come to be called: Boomer Shooters; games that are built with a retro look and feel, but with modern technology and ideas.

Other than that, I’ve always tried to encourage my fellow gaming creators and streamers to balance their life and creatives; balance stress with fun, and all that. If this whole creator thing is going to work, we need to enjoy it too.

I think as a “Role”, I think it’s more for the community to decide where best I can be of help; right now, it’s simply a good morning message, and for a lot of people, that can be enough to get them out of bed or back them off an edge a little quicker; that’s good enough for me.”

Hyacsho is the South-African representing his country all the way from Dubai.

His favourite Game or genre of game to play?:

“Oh easy: Doom 1993. And First Person Shooters. Mostly because First Person Shooters for me, are the kinds of games I grew up with, but also, because I find the immersion thrilling, and gives me a sense of excitement, thrill, horror, fun, it’s all there, I’m that person in the game, I am the Doom Slayer, or the Master Chief, or the Sniper.

It’s all me, and I think it’s one of the purest more primal wants; to be somewhere and something else; FPS games, give that to me.”

What is Hyacsho’s favourite thing about gaming?:

“That’s an interesting question; “Gaming” is such a wide thing, it’s a space, a lifestyle, a hobby, a community and an industry, and everything in between.

For me, my favourite thing about games is immersion; the ability to take us somewhere else, both an escape, yet, an adventure, finding stories, and learning, and having fun! But, gaming, as a community, honestly, connecting with people that I would have NEVER otherwise been able to.

Just tonight, I sat on a discord call, with an Indian from Japan, a Norwegian from Egypt, and I, a South African sitting in Dubai; all three of us, talking about a game (Blood), that came out 20 or so years ago, and how the new mods coming out these days are amazing!

So for me, it’s the people; friendships I’ve made along the way, and friendships made with people I may never meet in real life, and people from across the world. It just proves that wherever we’re from, whatever we do, we have this thing we all like: gaming, and that, can bring us together, the sense of wonder, dreams, and adventure.”

Hyacsho - His personality always shines through in his streams.

What drives Hyacsho’s gaming passion?:

“It’s all the above, the fun of it, the immersion and adventure of a game, but also, meeting new people that I wouldn’t have otherwise met.I LOVE finding new games and digging into some of the communities, and even the data, around those games, it’s fascinating.

I hope one day to launch my own indie gaming studio; focusing around amazing story telling, and engaging gameplay; the nexus between human emotion, and technological immersion. Something like that.”

Does Hyacsho have any projects on the horizon and what is he working on at the moment you ask?:

“YES! Right now, I’m focusing on a series of reviews around Doom 64 The Unmaking (A Doom Mapset), and then finally intend to launch a Doom WAD review series called: Thy Doom Consumed, a series of videos that review Doom wads and mods, This is all wrapped up in my Youtube channel, the larger project.

For now, that’s my focus, but frankly, I never look that short ahead; everything I work on right now, works to a larger goal in 10 or so years, it’ll probably be gaming related, but nothing concrete for now, for now, it’s all about the Hyacsho Youtube channel; First Person Shooter Content!

OH! Also, working with a UX Designer out of Cape Town for a whole new look, coming Q1 of 2022! 😀 So be on the look out for that!”
