Embark Studios announced earlier today, December 22, that The Finals had surpassed 10 million players worldwide since its stealth launch at The Game Awards 2023 earlier this month. In fact, it took about 15 days for the new FPS game to reach a significant milestone.

Of course, one factor contributing to The Finals’ high player count is that it is completely free to play on all platforms. Except for the Xbox Game Pass Core subscription required to play online on the latter platform, nothing prevents anyone from diving into the FPS genre on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox platforms.

All of this comes on the heels of The Finals patch 1.4.0, which brought the Winter festivities to the shooter with a giant rubber duck on one map. Other changes in the latest update include enhancements to the game’s anti-cheat efforts, as well as some long-awaited nerfs for Heavy builds.

But don’t expect a lengthy post-launch content roadmap just yet. The Finals will not have a content roadmap because Embark Studios prefers to focus on promises it can keep rather than promising content and then having to backtrack on it later.
