It has already surpassed its Kickstarter funding goal

Tactical RPGs dominated game release schedules in the 1990s before falling out of favor in the 2000s in favor of more traditional role-playing experiences and fast-paced combat. Thankfully, the genre has made a strong comeback in recent years, thanks to some excellent titles such as Triangle Strategy, Wildermyth, and Advance Wars 1+ 2 Re-Boot.

Lords of Nysera, a tactical RPG inspired by the genre’s greatest, with some D&D-esque flair thrown in for good measure, is set to add to those offerings in the near future. Classics like Fire Emblem, Shining Force, and, of course, Final Fantasy Tactics come to mind. You can recruit characters from a variety of classes, each with their own set of abilities, skills, and specializations. Combat is divided into phases in which each side takes turns moving their fighters and acting.

Open combat isn’t the only way to win; diplomacy can also be used to achieve your objectives. If you prefer a more violent approach, there are several ways to gain an advantage thanks to the game’s “flexible playstyles.” This includes using stealth, aerial combat, area-of-effect abilities, and terrain-altering magic.

Lords of Nysera is divided into ten “lore-rich regions” with dungeons and side quests. “The game is heavily inspired by tabletop RPGs,” developer Anthony Mull explains, hinting that you will “see their influence as you explore.”

Companions available in Lords Of nysera

Lords of Nysera’s Kickstarter recently launched and surpassed its $12,000 funding goal. In total, 512 backers contributed a total of $18,586. Lords of Nysera is scheduled to be released in February 2025, according to the Kickstarter page. In the meantime, you can try out the demo and add the game to your Steam wishlist.
