Actor Kevin Hart has officially been cast in the upcoming Borderlands movie as an ex-soldier.

Video Game adaptations are steadily gaining in popularity and director Eli Roth has jumped on the bandwagon with his new Borderlands Movie project.

Kevin Hart has been cast as “Roland the soldier” Joining Cate Blanchett who is playing “Lilith the Siren” as one of the four original heroes of this popular game franchise. The other two heroes of course being “Brick the Berserker” and “Mordecai the Hunter”, who are yet to be announced.

Roland is an “ex-soldier turned mercenary” who was honourably discharged from the Crimson Lance military unit and has since turned to a life of loot-hunting with the help of shotguns, turrets, and assault rifles.

This role is more of a serious role than Hart has played in the past and it will be interesting to see how he fits into it. His roles are usually goofier and full of fun rather than a strong soldier type.

The casting was officially announced on Tuesday via The Hollywood Reporter, and it was noted that Kevin Hart has already starred in ten films that opened as Box office no.1’s.
