Solo Developer’s Medieval City Builder Gains Massive Anticipation
Manor Lords, the medieval city builder crafted by a solo developer, has achieved a significant milestone by accumulating over two million wishlists on Steam, positioning itself among the most anticipated games on the platform. This achievement defied initial expectations, with the game’s release into early access scheduled for April 26.
Developer Greg Styczeń expressed surprise at the overwhelming response, stating that when the announcement trailer launched in 2020, his girlfriend predicted around 7,000 wishlists, and his own estimate was 14,000. Manor Lords has not only surpassed these projections but has emerged as a standout title in the city-building genre.
Manor Lords combines management aspects reminiscent of Banished and Going Medieval with combat and diplomacy systems akin to Mount & Blade. The solo developer’s journey serves as an inspiration for others in the gaming community, emphasizing the potential for solo success stories.
The medieval city builder’s early access release is set for April 26, making it available on PC via Steam, GOG, and Game Pass’s Game Preview program. As Manor Lords enters the gaming arena, it will contend with titles like Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong, maintaining the battle for the top spot in the gaming community’s anticipation.
