Druckmann is keeping things under wraps…
Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog has responded to reports that the upcoming Last of Us multiplayer game has been canceled. He told Entertainment Weekly that he has “no update” on the status of that game, and he also refused to discuss a potential third Last of Us game.
“The Last of Us is obviously a world I love deeply and know our studio and fans do as well, but I have no comment at this moment on the series’ future beyond our focus on The Last of Us Part II Remastered,” he said.
Naughty Dog has “other projects in the works,” according to Druckmann.
Previously, Druckmann stated that Naughty Dog had decided on its next game, but he did not specify whether it would be The Last of Us: Part III, the rumored new sci-fi game, or something else.
“I know the fans really want The Last Of Us Part III, I hear about it all the time,” Druckmann said. “All I can say is that we’re already into our next project, the decision has already been made. I can’t say what it is, but that is the process we went through.”
It was recently reported that Naughty Dog put the Last of Us multiplayer game “on ice” after Destiny developer Bungie reviewed it. The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which will be released on PS5 in January 2024, is Naughty Dog’s next title.
