Easter eggs in Games have been around since the beginning of gaming and for those who don’t know the terminology. “Easter egg” is a term used to describe a message, image, or feature hidden in a video game, film, or other, usually electronic, medium.
As for the newest Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War it seems that the developers Treyarch and Raven Software have kept their sense of humour despite the seriousness of the game.
One such nod to hilarity is in the form of an Easter egg hidden in the game. The Easter Egg I’m talking about is in reference to the Coffin Dance meme that swept the internet recently. This Easter Egg was brought to light by a Reddit user LooperGamer, who made a quick clip of what happens when you trigger the secret.

Here the map you are on suddenly erupts into a dance floor complete with disco music and lights, and the dozens of zombies that were trying to eat you start to dance. This dance quickly turns into what can be clearly recognized as the “coffin Dance” by Ghanaian Pallbearers recently trending on social media. The zombies even find a nearby crate to lift over their heads for full effect.
For those that don’t know the “coffin meme” surrounds a video of Pallbearers from Ghana who are seen to be dancing with a coffin on their shoulder.
This is steadily becoming a tradition in Ghana, where the family of the deceased will pay these “dancing” pallbearers to lift the mood at the funeral of their loved one. This is to celebrate the life of the deceased in a happy and positive way, instead of the sad and somber manner in which funerals are usually conducted.
To find this particular Easter Egg you will need to be playing Die Maschine. Once there you must head to the particle accelerator underground and shoot the six glowing orbs that are hidden in the area. Once you have done this you will be transported to another dimension where the zombie disco is going on and the dancing coffin performance will already be happening.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — and all include the above-mentioned Zombies mode.
The highly anticipated Cold war themed First-Person Shooter has a very serious and somber theme surrounding it, so for the developers to add this little humorous treasure shows that they have made sure to keep the game fun as well.
