Hidden Path Entertainment is developing an ambitious new Dungeons and Dragons game that is said to be a AAA title.
The announcement was made via Twitter stating that the studio is hiring for the project.
The announcement was also backed up by its project narrative director Whitney Beltran, who is known for writing games such as State Of Decay 2 and the Award-winning Tabletop game Bluebeard’s Bride.
Bluebeards Bride is a horror RPG game that is based on the French Folktale of the same name. This game uses the “Rules-Light engine.” In this tabletop game, you and your friends explore Bluebeard’s home as the Bride, creating your own beautifully tragic version of the dark fairy tale.
Hidden Path is hiring! We are in development on a AAA, third-person, open-world fantasy RPG that will be taking place inside the Dungeons & Dragons franchise.

Hidden Path Entertainment is responsible for such titles as Defense Grid: The Awakening, Counter-strike: Global offensive, Raccoon Lagoon as well as the VR titles Witchblood and Brass tactics.
We don’t know much more about the actual game in production or its gameplay but all signs point to a big budget game seeing as the tweet mentions Unreal Engine 4. It also mentions some necessary skills for the job including: “voiced dialogue writing skills” and “narrative branching skills” as well as experience with “strong ensemble casts”.
Whitney Beltran has also written some of the forthcoming supplement for the tabletop version Of Dungeons and Dragons “Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft”. This is not to say though that this new game will be along those gothic-horror lines, we will have to wait and see.

There are also a few others in the Dungeons and Dragons franchise including Baldur’s Gate 3 which was released into early access in October last year, by Larian Studios.
Another is a co-op action RPG called Dark Alliance which stars Drizzt Do’Urden and will be set in the Icewind Dale region, which is the same part of the Forgotten Realms where the latest tabletop D&D campaign takes place. This anticipated new game will be released on PC, PlayStation, 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
With all the above knowledge in mind, all we can do is wait for the official announcement from Hidden Path entertainment and speculate what the gameplay will be like, in what region it will play off, and all the interesting titbits in-between.
