PlayStation recently hosted their showcase for May 2023 and this is what we found out.

The showcase took place on the 24th of May and they certainly brought the goods as far as first-party and third-party studios go. The showcase focused on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR 2 release schedule mentioning many new PlayStation VR 2 titles.

We will skip the small talk now and get right to the announcements, which were numerous and equally exciting.

At the event, Insomniac Games showcased Spider-Man 2, its anticipated follow-up to its earlier games.

Spider-Man 2:

Taking place in a third-person perspective, Spider-Man 2 will be an action-adventure video game.

As with the first game and Miles Morales, Parker and Morales are the two main characters, who are playable individually in accordance with the story as they traverse an open-world New York City and fight enemies.

Spider-Man suits can be collected and new abilities can be acquired. Parker will also be playable when bonded to the Venom symbiote, allowing him to use tendrils during combat, as well as unique web-based abilities.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater:

This upcoming game for the PS5 is a remake of the beloved Metal Gear Solid 3, although no specific release date was disclosed. The visually stunning pre-rendered trailer showcased the majestic presence of Naked Snake, while also providing glimpses of the dynamic wildlife engaging in ferocious combat.

Additionally, the event unveiled the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, encompassing the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. This comprehensive collection is slated for release during the fall season.

Fairgame$:

During the PlayStation Showcase on Wednesday, Haven Studios announced its first game, Fairgame$. The studio was acquired by PlayStation last March.

While the trailer didn’t show much gameplay, it focused on the game’s steal-from-the-rich theme.

Helldivers 2:

Following that, Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead took the stage in the exhibition, serving as a sequel to the acclaimed top-down shooter game of 2015.

This highly anticipated title is scheduled for release in 2023 on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC, and from what was showcased, it seems to maintain the series’ distinctive humour and style.

Immortals Of Aveum:

Immortals of Aveum is a single-player first-person magic shooter that tells the story of Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages to save a world on the edge of the abyss.

Magic is the core of offensive and defensive combat. Master spells, unlock talents, and unleash all three colors of magic. Immortals of Aveum is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC on the 20th of July.

Ghostrunner 2:

A first-person platformer with action-forward gameplay is expected to be released this year for PlayStation 5. Ghostrunner 2 is a hardcore FPP slasher set in a post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk world.

Featuring everything fans loved about Ghostrunner plus incredible boss fights, a new interactive story, thrilling motorbike levels, improved skills, and more cyber ninja action.

The Talos Principle 2:

The highly anticipated release of The Talos Principle 2 is expected to happen this year, serving as a sequel to the critically acclaimed game, The Talos Principle, which debuted in 2014.

This series has gained recognition for its distinctive blend of philosophy and puzzles, resulting in an unparalleled and one-of-a-kind experience.

Phantom Blade 0:

In Phantom Blade Zero, you’re Soul, an elite assassin serving an elusive but powerful organization known simply as “The Order”. He was framed for the murder of The Order’s patriarch and gravely injured in the manhunt that ensued.

A mystic healer managed to save him from death, but a makeshift cure only lasts for 66 days. He must find out the mastermind behind it all before his time runs out, against powerful foes and inhuman monstrosities.


The release date for the game has not been announced yet, and the platforms on which it will be available remain unknown.

Sword Of The Sea:

Sword of the Sea is from the same developer as Abzu and The Pathless and looks to be a chill skateboarding journey like Journey.

There has been no announcement regarding a release date or the platforms it will be available on.

Neva:

Giant Squid, the renowned developer responsible for the enchanting game Gris, is currently crafting an exquisite title that features a skilled swordsman accompanied by a majestic white wolf adorned with antlers.

Judging from the captivating trailer, this upcoming game appears to evoke deep emotional resonance. Set to arrive on PlayStation 5 in the year 2024, it promises to be a truly heartbreaking experience.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to raise a wild animal? In Neva, not only will you find out firsthand just how troublesome a teenage wolf can be, but you’ll learn to depend on one another in more ways than one.

It tells the moving tale of a young woman and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf as they embark on a thrilling adventure through a rapidly dying world.

Foamstars:

FOAMSTARS is a four-versus-four multiplayer party shooter for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. There was no announcement of a release date.

“Use foam to build terrain to create slippery surfaces to surf around the arena at high speed, help defend from enemy attacks or to create vantage points to take out opponents from.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage introduces players to the captivating character of Basim, a crafty street thief haunted by haunting visions and driven by the pursuit of answers and justice.

Within the game, players will have the opportunity to align themselves with an ancient organization and delve into a profound new creed, which will profoundly alter Basim’s destiny in unimaginable ways. They will release the game on the 12th of October.

Alan Wake 2:

Ths game is the sequel to the 2010 psychological thriller Alan Wake. Alan Wake 2 marks Remedy Entertainment’s first foray into the survival horror genre.

The game arrives on the 17th of October 2023.

Marathon:

Bungie has breathed new life into the Marathon franchise. For those unfamiliar, Marathon served as the spiritual precursor to Halo.

However, with this revival, the studio is taking a slightly different and potentially contentious approach. The rejuvenated game takes the form of a competitive extraction shooter, specifically crafted for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, offering cross-play and cross-save functionality.

The intense battles unfold within a moon installation situated adjacent to Earth, and the cyberpunk art style seems to have drawn inspiration from Bungie’s recent artistic endeavors.

Notably, Marathon will forgo a single-player campaign, and the project seems to still be in its early stages of development.

Project Q:

“Project Q” will allow PlayStation 5 owners to remotely play games via Wi-Fi from their portable device.

Equipped with a substantial screen and featuring controls akin to the DualSense controller, the handheld device offers a split configuration on each side.

In addition, Sony unveiled a new set of PlayStation earbuds that share a noticeable resemblance to Apple’s AirPods, making them an ideal companion for this handheld experience.
