Prince Of Persia Will Be Remade: Release Set For January 2021

Ubisoft has announced the remake and remaster of the first instalment of the trilogy: The Sands of Time

The release date for the game has been dated the 21st of January 2021, as revealed during Ubisoft Forward after leaks had surface about the remake.

The Sands of Time was released back in 2003 and was critically acclaimed, being regarded as the inspiration for Assasin’s Creed. The game’s main “gimmick” was the use of a dagger that contained the magical sand, which allowed the prince to rewind time, delay enemy attacks and move certain objects. The game also feature amazing combat combos and fantastically fluid gameplay which rivalled a very popular artefact huntress (no, we’re not talking about Indiana Jones).

This remake will be done with the same engine as used for Assasin’s Creed Origins, and will feature a new in-game camera and bettered combat movement. You can also expect to hear the original voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, reprising the role of the Prince, alongside some newcomers. The game will also include the original Prince of Persia (1989) – a little gold nugget for the PoP fandom

Redesigned enemies, new cinematics, polished parkour, a new in-game camera and gorgeously updated graphics are just a couple of delicious sneak-peeks into the first remake from Ubisoft. Here’s hoping this one’s success will encourage the spawning of more remakes of Ubisoft gems (we’re looking at you, Farcry!)

If you haven’t revisited the game in a while, perhaps it’s time for a replay. It’s always good to keep the memory of a game minty fresh when there’s a remake to compare it to! I, for one, cannot wait!
