Razer has created a new Concept N95 face mask that reportedly has RGB’S and Voice projection.
Razer has dubbed it “Project Hazel” and they claim that this new mask is reusable and breathable.
The mask was unveiled at CES 2021 and has reportedly been fitted with a mic and amplifier which, coupled with the company’s VoiceAmp technology, helps to overcome any issues with muffled speech while wearing the mask.
This innovative design has a clear glossy outer shell that is made from waterproof and scratch-resistant recycled plastic. The design is clear to allow for lip reading and facial cues to aid in communication.
Razer claims this mask to be their “prototype of the most intelligent mask ever created”.
If you remember back to the start of the pandemic, we did an article about Razer making face masks to donate to the health authorities in various countries.
Well, fast forward almost a year, and a lot has changed. They have donated over 1 million of those standard surgical masks globally and have now upped their mask design tenfold it seems.
Razer has come a long way from those humble masks to Project Hazel’s futuristic design.
The mask boasts Active ventilation and auto sterilization as well as a low light mode which they say will be good for social interactions, allowing others to communicate easier through the transparent design.
According to Razer, their “smart mask’s interior lights up automatically when it’s dark, allowing you to express yourself clearly regardless of the lighting conditions. “
Razer claims that the new mask has been designed for comfort too with a soft silicone guard that fits snugly around your face with an airtight seal that will prevent your glasses from fogging up. This design will also stop the mask from actually touching your mouth, so you can speak freely and a lot more clearly than the traditional cloth mask.
The mask has replaceable filters and rechargeable ventilators which apparently have long battery life for all day usage. The mask will come with a wireless charging case and UV Sterilizer to keep your mask clean and ready to go when you need it.
These amazing masks wouldn’t be complete without custom RGB LED’s, because let’s face it, it wouldn’t be a true Razer product without these features.
These masks will be a lot more sustainable and since they have used recycled materials, they are clearly thinking of the environment too with the traditional disposable surgical masks being a great source of pollution globally.
Unfortunately, Razer has whetted our appetite without actually giving us any information on when these masks will be available or how much they will set us back.
Project Hazel seems to be a concept for now. Razer has said though that they are planning to continue working on the mask and will utilize “rigorous testing and user feedback” to make any design changes it feels will improve the mask’s functionality and performance.”
We will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information on this intriguing new smart mask that will undoubtedly be the start of a new trend in face masks. Stay tuned for more information as it comes in.
