The much-Anticipated Resident Evil Showcase event happened yesterday. The showcase was hosted by Britney Brombacher and if you missed it, she took us through interviews with Capcom execs and the exciting little titbits and news regarding the franchise.

Jun Takeuchi, the Resident Evil series’ Executive Producer, was one of the Execs we spoke with, unveiling the world premiere of the Resident Evil Village official launch trailer.

The trailer is mind-blowing, to say the least, and adds so many little pieces to the puzzle that entice and intrigue and leave us wanting more. We have rituals, Lycans, and Lady Dimitrescu’s “brother” capturing and holding Ethan Winters. A small sneak peek into the Gameplay with your character busting through walls in a jeep engulfed in flames.

It was revealed that a Time Limited Demo would be released soon, allowing you to play Resident Evil Village for up to 60 terrifying minutes. The Demo will be split into two parts, namely a Village Demo lasting 30 mins and a Castle Demo lasting 30 mins.

The concept is to allow players to participate in high-score challenges by earning kills and time extension bonuses. Between rounds, it will include new features such as power upgrades and weapon shops.

Other BIG news that was announced is the fact that Capcom will be releasing a full VR port for the Oculus Quest 2. This RE:4 version will be in First-Person and Although more information will be unveiled on April 21 at the Oculus Games Showcase, a brief gameplay preview showed Leon holding arms, interacting with a virtual attache case, and solving one of the puzzles with a virtual hand-crank.

There will also reportedly be a Collaboration event between Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil. During DBD’s 5th anniversary stream on May 25, Behaviour Interactive will reveal the Resident Evil segment and In June, the collaborative chapter will be published.

There will also be a new animated movie coming to Netflix in July called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The storyline reunites Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they fend off a zombie outbreak against the White House. If you can remember, Leon S. Kennedy once rescued Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter, in Resident Evil 4. He’s protecting President Graham from zombies this time.

Resident Evil Showcase 2021

In other Resident Evil news, Capcom is bringing some of Resident Evils’ upgrade systems that have been de-emphasized over the years back into play for Ethan Winters.

For instance, Players will be able to track down animals whose meat can be processed and used in Duke’s Kitchen to make a tasty meal. Once the meal has been prepared it can serve as a permanent buff such as to decrease damage.

You will have to make every shot count when hunting the wildlife as doing so will spend precious ammo. Also, the Wildlife will tend to attack Ethan Winters when shot at and not just allow the player to merrily shoot at them.

Ethan will be able to upgrade his arsenal When defeated, as antagonists will sometimes drop the Lei currency or valuable objects that can be sold to Duke.

Overall, the showcase provided us with so much new knowledge about the upcoming Resident Evil games that we have a lot to process and anticipate.
