Premature Story Completion Surprises Early Access Players, Prompting Emergency Maintenance and Adding to Rocksteady’s Challenges
Rocksteady Studios, making its comeback after nearly a decade, faces a turbulent launch with the early access release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Players exploring the game ahead of its official launch on February 2 were greeted with an unexpected turn – a seemingly complete story experience upon their initial login.
This substantial bug not only raised concerns about potential spoilers but also posed a threat by unlocking certain game features. In response, Rocksteady promptly took the game offline, initiating emergency maintenance to address the issue. The developer acknowledged the problem on the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League X account, stating they were aware of players experiencing this critical bug. The game’s temporary unavailability for maintenance was estimated to take several hours.
We’re aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League adopts an always-online model, meaning that even the single-player portion of the game becomes inaccessible during maintenance.
The game’s official launch date is February 2, but customers who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, or Xbox Series X were granted up to 72 hours of early access. Unfortunately, this early access period has brought additional challenges for Rocksteady, with reports emerging that Warner Bros. Games did not provide pre-release review code to media outlets. Notably, Warner Bros. opted to withhold review code until the game’s servers went live, or in some cases, not providing it at all.
Rocksteady’s journey in bringing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to life has been marked by various hurdles, including delays, major story leaks, criticism over the game’s live-service multiplayer focus, and the unexpected return of certain characters from the Batman Arkham games.
The game has identified the bug affecting story completion and has undergone maintenance, allowing players to resume gameplay.
