The makers of the Enderal Mod for Skyrim have made the decision to make their own commercial game.
Skyrim fans will probably be familiar with the Enderal: The Shards of Order mod which is an entire conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The expansion Enderal: Forgotten stories was released 3 years after the original.
The mod in question was created by a German Studio called SureAl and adds an entirely new plot and notably improved game mechanics to Skyrim.
In this mod, you are a refugee trying to escape to Enderal which is a relatively stable land, on a merchant ship.
You and your friend are discovered towards the end of the voyage causing your friend to be killed, and you are thrown overboard only to wake up on the beach with magical powers.
Long story short this mod places you in the position of a prophet and adds a whole new plot that you get to explore.
SureAl is a German team of developers who have created several total conversion mods of Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series.
They were even named one of the best modding teams of 2010 by MD DB and won PC Gamer’s Mod of the year award for Nehrim, which was also a contestant for best role-playing game.
Enderal was SureAI’s first mod to include both English and German voice acting. It was released in German on the 2nd of July 2016, and in English on the 13th of August, 2016.
SureAl announced their plan to move on to a commercial project and they say it “will hopefully be announced this year. So, stay tuned for news and keep an eye on our social media channels.”
The announcement was made in the final set of patch notes for Enderal. This particular patch fixed the following issues:
Tech:
- Fixed that the damage dealt by the talent Archaic Might was reduced by armour directly, very often resulting in dealing 0 damage on the highest talent rank.
- (Set of the Tracker) Fortune of the Tracker now properly increases Rhetoric when being worn.
- Disenchanting Sublime Garments now grants the proper enchantment.
- Fixed that some bows would disappear when they were dropped from the inventory.
Sound:
- Fixed two sound files.
UI:
- Fixed various typos.
SureAl mentions that because of the move to this new commercial project they won’t be able to work on further patches or even port Enderal to the Skyrim Special Edition as they won’t have any time.
They didn’t mention any other information about the “commercial project” they are supposedly embarking on but we will keep you in the loop.
If you are searching for Enderal: Forgotten Stories, it is still available on the Steam Store.
