Steam has set its own new personal record of concurrent users passing the 27 Million users mark.
Steam has broken its concurrent user record for the second time, breaking it in April when it reached 26 million concurrent users.
According to SteamDB Steam has now even surpassed that hitting 27,384,959 accounts logging onto Valve’s launcher at once. On the 27th of November, 7.8 Million of these were in-game. March of 2020 saw 8.1 Million players playing at one time.
The gaming platform is clearly very popular and steadily growing in popularity. As well as this new record user information SteamDB also released their Top Sellers for the last week which were: Farming Simulator, Battlefield 2042, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption.
Among the most popular games played on Steam is CS: GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) and DOTA 2 which comes in a close second, with PUBG, Apex Legends, and New World rounding out the top five games played on the platform. The remainder of the top ten list of games includes Grand Theft Auto 5, Team Fortress 2, RUST, MIR4, and Wallpaper Engine.
For those of you who aren’t aware Steam is the digital distribution service by Valve that was launched in September 2003. It started as a mechanism for Valve to give automatic updates for their games, but it quickly grew to include games from other publishers. Steam has also expanded its digital storefront to include a web-based and mobile version. Steam also provides DRM (Digital Rights Management), server hosting, video streaming, and social networking services.
Steam is currently slap bang in the middle of its Autumn sale with massive discounts being available until the 1st of December. Some of the amazing games that are now experiencing historical lows include Control: Ultimate Edition, Borderlands 3, F1 2021, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Planet Zoo, Death Stranding, and Wasteland 3.
