The long-awaited opening of Super Nintendo World has finally happened and they celebrated with the help of Shigeru Miyamoto.

We have known about the Nintendo themed theme park being built in Japan for over a year now and we are happy to report its doors are finally open to the public.

The park has been in development for six years and is finally ready for the public to explore and enjoy the interactive elements.

The opening ceremony was held yesterday the 18th of March with much fanfare and of course Mario’s “dad” Shigeru Miyamoto was there as well as Universal Studios Japan CEO Jean-Louis Bonnier.

Shigeru Miyamoto reportedly told guests: “The day we’ve been looking forward to has finally arrived! It’s been six years since we started development, and it’s gone so fast. The world’s first real Super Mario world. We’re happy to be able to release it in time for the 35th anniversary.” Miyamoto also added that “once the pandemic subsides, I hope everyone around the world will come and visit us. We are waiting for you!”

The opening was apparently worth the wait as there were many interactive elements to be enjoyed on the day. Through his virtual tour, you can see many fun and striking features of the park that immerse you into the world of Super Mario. There are even yummy looking food stands in case you get hungry.

The staff also did a cute little choreographed dance to the Mario theme to mark the occasion and welcome their first visitors. Shigeru Miyamoto then emerged from behind accompanied by Mario and Luigi which is a fitting tribute to this iconic game.

Even though the doors are officially open to the public there are still restrictions due to Covid. This includes the fact that only 10,000 visitors a day will be allowed through the doors and the public is still required to wear masks at all times.

There is reportedly a mysterious Donkey Kong door in the park that suggests an expansion is in the making.

There is apparently a Super Nintendo World being planned for Florida in the United States as well but it is said that it won’t be ready until at least 2025.

This concept seems to be catching on as Universal Studios in Hollywood is reportedly planning a smaller version of Super Nintendo World as well.

This concept is exciting for all members of the family as well as Nintendo fans and those that have a nostalgic place in their hearts for Mario, Luigi, and the rest of the gang.
