Tekken 8 Producer Responds To Tifa Lockhart's Requests

Tekken 8 Producer Acknowledges Fan Requests for Tifa Lockhart, Teases Future Possibilities

Fans of Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa Lockhart have inundated Tekken 8 producer Katsuhiro Harada with requests to include Tifa in the game’s roster. The clamor for Tifa in Tekken 8 has been so intense that Harada felt compelled to respond on social media. In a surprisingly cordial reply, Harada acknowledged the fans’ passion for Tifa but clarified that no decisions had been made regarding guest characters in Tekken 8.

Harada’s response came amidst a wave of requests from Final Fantasy enthusiasts urging the inclusion of Tifa Lockhart in Tekken 8. Despite his well-known stance of “Don’t ask me for shit” regarding fan requests, Harada maintained a diplomatic tone, expressing understanding for Tifa’s appeal but emphasizing the absence of decisions regarding guest characters in Tekken 8.

While Tifa has not been confirmed for Tekken 8, the game’s producer did not outright dismiss the possibility of guest characters from outside the Tekken universe. Tekken 7, the previous installment in the franchise, featured guest characters like Akuma from Street Fighter, Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, Negan from The Walking Dead, and Noctis from Final Fantasy 15.

Harada hinted that the DLC plans for Tekken 8 are not yet finalized, leaving room for potential additions to the roster in future updates. The inclusion of Noctis from Final Fantasy 15 in Tekken 7 suggests that characters from other franchises, including Final Fantasy, could make appearances in Tekken games.

While fans continue to express their desires for Tifa’s inclusion in Tekken 8, her upcoming appearance in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, part of the Final Fantasy Remake project, will offer fans ample screen time with the character. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to release on PlayStation 5 on Feb. 29.

Tekken 8, featuring a 32-character roster, recently launched with additional content planned for release in four seasonal updates over the coming year. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
