Fntastic and Valve are collaborating to issue refunds to all Steam users who request them for ‘The Day Before’

After less than a week, one of the most highly anticipated games on Steam is no longer available for purchase due to the closure of the developer, Fntastic. The game’s Discord channel is in disarray as players rush to get refunds. It appears that Valve is assisting Fntastic and The Day Before publisher Mytona with refund requests.

The Day Before came and went very quickly. The much-awaited zombie game is no longer on sale, and although you can still play it while the servers are up, we now know that each and every customer who purchased the game is eligible for a refund.

Fntastic said: “Answer to those who ask for a refund. Mytona and [Fntastic are] currently working with Steam to allow refunds for any player who chooses to request one, regardless of game time. Fntastic received $0 and will receive nothing from The Day Before sales.”

The official Fntastic account then responds to several comments, stating that the IP is not the property of the Fntastic studio and that “this was our first big experience S**t happen

Even when Fntastic closed and The Day Before was removed from Steam’s sale list, there is still enough to discover about it. In what appears to be a leaked Telegram conversation, GameDiscoverCo creator Simon Carless disclosed that The Day Before had 201,000 consumers and 91,700 refunders—an estimated 46% refund ratio. Even if this is only conjecture, there’s a good chance that the number will rise considering that everyone will get their money back and there won’t be any more upgrades.

With lofty expectations, a teaser that included scenes straight out of Call of Duty Zombies, and gamers discovering that the much-anticipated massively multiplayer online game actually resembled an exceedingly basic extraction shooter, The Day Before was engulfed in controversy from the very beginning.

In addition, there were several remarks regarding journalists, seemingly written by AI, and Discord moderators were left to pick up the pieces after Fntastic mostly remained quiet over the game’s debut weekend.
