However, it inadvertently lands on non-cheaters

Embark Studios has issued the first large ban wave for its free-to-play shooter The Finals, but it appears that some non-cheating players have also been affected.

The Finals was released earlier this month (December 8), and while the game was lauded for its destructible levels and diverse tactical options, reports of rampant cheating dampened the game’s success. To address these concerns, Embark Studios implemented an overnight ban wave.

“Looks like it has hit a lot of folks who don’t cheat, including a number of Twitch streamers,” said journalist Tom Warren on X. This was confirmed by streamer PRX Jinggg, who shared the notification screen (embedded below), which reads: “Due to certain behavior that is against our Code of Conduct, your account has been banned.” Several similar posts have also appeared on Twitter in the last day regarding this ban wave.

Hopefully, the developers patch this soon, the game has had quite an abundance of negative publicity already.
