This much-loved Mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was turned into a full game and will be launching later this year.

The announcement was made by Modern Storyteller and Dear Villagers that the full game for The Forgotten City will be launched later this year for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One and PC via Steam.

The game will reportedly support English, Spanish, German, French, and simplified Chinese language options.

The official site for the game Described it as “A time travel murder mystery in an ancient Roman City”, and explains that “The Forgotten City is a reimagining of the mod that won a Writer’s Guild Award and racked up over 3 million downloads. While it retains all the elements players know and love, the full release is leveling up every aspect and adding plenty of surprises.”

The site also states that “The Forgotten City is the story we always wanted to tell, for you to enjoy all over again – and again.”

The story itself revolves around 23 lost souls trapped in a secret underground city during the Roman Empire and clinging to life. The story goes that if you break the mysterious golden rule in this Utopia then everyone dies.

You play as a time traveller brought two thousand years into the past and are forced to live an endless loop of their final moments. You explore, interrogate and change the course of the day with each secret you uncover.

Only by cleverly exploiting the time loop and making difficult moral choices can you hope to solve this epic mystery. Here, your decisions matter. The fate of the city is in your hands.

Some features of the game include:

  • Exploring an authentic, open-world ancient Roman city brought to life with Unreal Engine
  • Become entwined in the lives of richly detailed, deeply interactive characters
  • Grapple with moral dilemmas which have life-and-death consequences
  • Investigate a gripping, non-linear mystery with multiple endings
  • Role-play as whoever you want, by choosing your own sex, race, and backstory
  • Solve problems your own way, with reason, charm, bribery, stealth, intimidation, or by cleverly exploiting the time-loop
