Bungie’s social and community staff were particularly hard hit by recent layoffs
Destiny 2’s community team has been nominated for The Game Awards for their liaising, feedback collection, transparency, and player correspondence – and many of the people behind that work are no longer at the company as a result of Bungie’s recent wave of painful layoffs.
The full list of nominees for the Game Awards was released earlier today. “Outstanding community support, transparency, and responsiveness, inclusive of social media activity and game updates/patches,” according to the criteria for best community support.
The following are the category contenders:
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Destiny 2
- Final Fantasy 16
- No Man’s Sky
The other four nominees are all riding high, but Destiny 2 is at a low point after deep cuts at Bungie, which hit the MMO’s social and community teams particularly hard.
