This highly anticipated game has unsurprisingly smashed records for Sony as the Fastest selling PS4 game of all time.
It seems Naughty Dog has done it again as The Last Of Us part 2 has narrowly beat another Naughty Dog game Uncharted 4: A Thief’s end by only 1% for this prestigious title.
This action-horror game has had launch sales which exceeded its PS3 predecessor by 76%.
This achievement makes it the UK’s biggest launch for any boxed game that has been released this year so far.
The Last Of Us Part 2 sales have exceeded the previous best game of this year by 40 %. This game of course being Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which took the Nintendo community by storm following its release.
The charts only cover physical sales, which means that only a small percentage of the game’s sales were actually captured. As Digital sales have not been included it might well be that The Last of Us Part 2 will be significantly bigger than anyone has previously anticipated.
This week didn’t see any other launches for games although the DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield has arrived and seen the Pokémon games rise up the ranks. Pokémon Sword is back at No.9 after a 51% increase in sales week-on-week, while Pokémon Shield is at No.22. Both games have enjoyed consecutive weeks of sales increases.
We can’t say we are surprised by this news as this Action-Horror has been gaining notoriety steadily every week, with new videos and tidbits of information being released to the public thus whetting our appetites for more. It will be interesting to see how the game fairs as time goes on and if indeed it will hold this record for a long period.
