The Sinking City 2 Unveiled Embracing Horror In Lovecraftian Sequel

Frogwares Delves Deeper into Eldritch Terror in Highly Anticipated Follow-Up

Frogwares, the acclaimed developer behind the Lovecraftian thriller The Sinking City, has officially announced the sequel to its 2019 hit, promising a journey into the heart of horror unlike anything seen before. Moving away from the mystery-driven gameplay of its predecessor, The Sinking City 2 plunges players into a world of unrelenting terror and existential dread, fully embracing the sinister allure of the Lovecraftian mythos.

In an interview with Xbox Wire, Sergey Oganesyan, Head of Publishing at Frogwares, expressed the studio’s excitement for the shift towards a more intense horror experience. “The Sinking City is one of our most successful titles because of our stronger horror genre leanings and the setting,” Oganesyan stated. “For us, it was kind of a breakthrough, and we are super excited to work on a full-scale horror game.”

While retaining elements of detective work and puzzle-solving, The Sinking City 2 amplifies the stakes with a renewed emphasis on combat and survival. Players will navigate through decaying mansions and desolate hospitals, facing off against grotesque Eldritch monsters armed with a variety of 1920s-inspired firearms. The game promises a morally ambiguous narrative, drawing inspiration from the twisted tales of HP Lovecraft himself.

However, amidst the excitement surrounding the sequel’s announcement, Frogwares faces challenges stemming from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. To ensure the project’s success, the studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign, echoing the strategy employed for Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. By rallying support from fans and backers, Frogwares aims to establish a financial safety net that will enable the development team to overcome obstacles and deliver a truly unforgettable horror experience.

Wael Amr, CEO of Frogwares, underscored the importance of community support in times of adversity. “Through Kickstarter and our supporters, we built ourselves a safety net that saved us more than once,” Amr remarked. “From power cuts to the need for team members to relocate at very short notice, this financial safety net proved invaluable to us. So we need to do the same now with The Sinking City 2 as this game is vastly bigger and more complex.”

As anticipation mounts for The Sinking City 2, fans can expect a harrowing journey into the depths of madness and despair, where every shadow conceals unspeakable horrors and every choice carries profound consequences. With its immersive atmosphere, gripping storytelling, and spine-chilling encounters, The Sinking City 2 promises to redefine the boundaries of horror gaming and leave players trembling in fear long after the credits roll.
