The extremely popular gaming platform Steam has had its fifth annual game Awards for 2020 recently and the winners were chosen by the Steam users themselves.
Steam has become even more popular this year compared to previous years and has reportedly broken its record for concurrent users multiple times throughout 2020. This was mostly due to the Pandemic keeping many at home throughout the year.
The biggest award of the event was of course the Game of the Year has been announced…. And the winner was Red Dead Redemption 2. The game beat out some big names for the top spot, games such as Dead Stranding, Doom Eternal, Fall Guys, and Hades.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has also won the award for Outstanding Story-Rich Game.

The Labour Of Love award included nominations of games from previous years that have received great post-launch support and the winner of the award was announced as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which was originally released on the 21st of August 2012.
The award for Outstanding Visual Style was given to Ori and the Will of the Wisps which is not surprising as it is a visually breath-taking game in its own right.
The multiplayer Better With Friends award was awarded to the extremely popular Fall Guys.
Death Stranding was the winner of the award in the most innovative gameplay category.
The Best soundtrack award went to the highly popular DOOM Eternal.
The Best game you suck at Award was awarded to the popular Battle Royale game Apex Legends.

The Sit Back And Relax Award was awarded to The Sims 4 for its calm and chilled gameplay.
Nominations for the awards are done in the following manner: Steam users nominate the games, but Steam will ultimately decide who the five finalists are and then the reigns are handed back to the users that actually choose the winner.
As an interesting side-note, the best-selling Steam games releases in 2020 were Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, and Fall Guys.
The most-played games for the year were Doom Eternal, Fall Guys, Cyberpunk 2077 and Life is Strange 2.
After all said and done 2020 was a good year for Steam even though we are in the middle of a pandemic and global crisis.
