There are confirmed reports that “The Wild Hunt” will be joining The Witcher series in season 2.
Images taken during the filming of The Witcher Season 2 point to some new characters joining the series. “The Wild Hunt” is prominent in The Witcher games and even more so in the books.
The news was confirmed by Redanian Intelligence, that the filming on Devon beach was in fact that of The Witcher Season 2 and furthermore that they are currently filming scenes that include “The Wild Hunt”.
The images show heavily armoured riders on horseback which are unmistakable to fans of The Witcher franchise.
The crew for this filming is a lot smaller than previous filming for the Season which points to a small role and maybe even the hook for Season 3.
“The Wild Hunt” is known by the common people as a group of wraiths riding their horses across the sky and are known as an omen of war. They are actually a group of Aen Elle elves from Tir ná Lia who also call themselves the Dearg Ruadhri in their native Elder Speech, meaning Red Riders. They are led by king, Eredin Bréacc Glas. Their purpose was to find and capture slaves from other worlds to serve the Alder Folk. These included the Aen Seidhe, but they eventually went after Ciri because of her Elder Blood.
The official description of The Witcher Season 2 states: “Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
The main cast members are Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri, and although Season 2 has had its delays due to Covid-19 and “The Witcher” himself getting injured.
This season of The Witcher is shaping up to be an exciting series to look forward to in one of the hardest years to date.
The series is set to hit our screens later this year, but you can watch the first season of The Witcher now on Netflix in case you missed it or even just to recap.
